Te reo Māori - Practise with your children

Greetings
Tēnā koe = hello to one person
Tēnā kōrua = hello to two people

Tēnā koutou = hello to three or more


Feelings / How are you feeling?
Kei te pēhea koe? How are you? 
Kei te pai ahau. I am good.

Kei te hōhā ahau. I am fed up.

Kei te ngenge ahau. I am tired.

Kei te pukuriri ahau. I am angry.

Our children have also learnt how to say the following emotion words:
Pōuri = sad

Harikoa = happy

Hiamo = excited 

Hiakai = hungry

Hiainu = thirsty


Describing the colour of an object
He colour te object​             The object is __________.

We can demonstrate this by describing what colour some pens are.

The students know the following colour words:


Mā = white

Whero = red

Kākāriki = green

Pango/Mangu = black

Kōwhai = yellow

Parauri = brown

Kikorangi = blue

Karakaraka = orange

Mā whero = pink

Kiwikiwi = grey

Waiporoporo = purple
