Enroling your child

Is your child joining CDPS in 2021?

If you know that your child is starting school at CDPS in 2021, please contact Carolyn in the office to pre-enrol. Your enrolment information helps us to plan for a smooth ECE to School transition and manage our numbers.
If you would like to visit CPDS for a tour, meet learners and have a coffee with Justin, Louise, Liz or Kirsty, please don't hesitate to book an appointment. We'd love to meet you.

If you live in the zone

Get in touch to have a chat with our school principal and learn more about the school. You will then be asked to complete an enrolment form and provide:
  • A copy of the eligibility document for your child (NZ birth certificate or NZ passport (if NZ citizen), Australian passport (if Australian citizen) or NZ residency permit or NZ student visa/permit and Parental work permit (if the child is not a NZ citizen).
  • Proof of your address (if in zone e.g., utilities bill, rental/sales agreement).
  • Immunisation certificate
  • A copy of any Court Order Documents (if applicable)

If you don’t live in the zone

There’s a ballot system that you can apply for once a year.

Once you have applied, the Crofton Downs Board of Trustees will:
  • Decide if we have places that will be made available for the following year by 1st September of the current school year.
  • Advertise available places by 15 September of the current school year for the following year. Ballot applicants will be informed of the date of any ballot by notice in a daily or community newspaper circulating in the area served by the school and also on our school website.
  • Ensure that the ballot application deadline is no later than 15 October of the current school year.
  • Ensure that the ballot for enrolments (if required) is held no later than 30 Oct of the current school year.
  • Ensure that ballot applicants are advised of the outcome of their application no later than 30 October of the current school year.  This will be in the form of a  letter stating the outcome, as per the MoE templates.

The Crofton Downs Board of Trustees will repeat this procedure if the total number of ballot places are not filled and if the Board deem it necessary to do so.

Ballot applications for out of zone enrolment will be processed in the following order of priority:
  • First priority, This priority category is not applicable at Crofton Downs Primary School because the school does not run a special programme approved by the Secretary for Education.
  • Second priority must be given to applicants who are siblings of current students.
  • Third priority must be given to applicants who are siblings of former students.
  • Fourth priority must be given to any applicant who is a child of a former student of the school.
  • Fifth priority must be given to any applicant who is either a child of an employee of the board of the school or a child of a member of the board of the school.
  • Sixth priority must be given to all other applicants.
If there are more applicants in the second, third, fourth, fifth or sixth priority groups than there are places available, selection within the priority group will be by a ballot conducted in accordance with instructions issued by the Secretary for Education under Section 11G(1) of the Education Act 1989.  Applicants seeking second or third priority status may be required to give proof of a sibling relationship (for example a Birth Certificate of the child and any siblings already enrolled
