Crofton Downs Primary School Enrolment / Ballot Information
For Terms 1&2 2024
The Board of Trustees invites applications from ‘out of zone’ parents who wish to enrol their children at Crofton Downs Primary School for 2024. Enrolment at the school is governed by an enrolment zone, details of which are available from the school office or at www.cdps.school.nz
Applications for out of zone places are now being invited for those students who will be eligible for enrolment in Terms 1 & 2 in 2024. Applications are to be submitted on the official enrolment form, which is available at the school office or online enrolment on the school website.
There are:
6 Out of Zone places available in NE / Year 1
Where there are more applications for enrolment than there are places available the Board is required to fill any vacant out of zone places by ballot.
The deadline for receipt of applications for out-of-zone places is Monday 18 September at 12 noon.
If the number of out of zone applications exceeds the number of places available, selection will be by ballot. The ballot, if required, will be held on Wednesday 20 September under external supervision. All applicants will be notified by Friday 22 September.
If you live within the home zone and have not yet signaled your intention to enrol your child, please contact the school office to assist us to plan appropriately for 2024.
If you would like a tour of our amazing little school please contact Justin Potter, Principal. (principal@cdps.school.nz)
Please contact the school office on 04 479 2429 for details regarding the enrolment process, or email office@cdps.school.nz

The Book Fair is coming November 21st (Term 4, week 7)
Celebrate the joy of reading with our biennial Book Fair!
Our Book Fair opens on Tuesday 21st, the day of the first parent/teacher conference. We will be in the hall, and you'll be able to browse a fantastic selection of books. It will be a great opportunity to get some Christmas shopping done, too! As always, every purchase earns us reward points that I can spend on brand new books for our Library.
Some families choose to donate a book or two from the Fair to our school Library. These books will have a personalised book plate with your family name on it. It's a lovely legacy, ensuring that your family remains part of our school community, even after you've moved on.
I am also seeking volunteers to help run the fair. If you're free to help between 8.30-9am, and after school for any period of time, please let me know.Rachel (library@cdps.school.nz)

Kia ora everyone,
I hope this email finds you well. My name is Sabry, and I'm the co-founder of 3Dfy.me, a locally owned and operated 3D-photography studio in Wellington. We specialise in offering a range of digital 3D-scanning, 3D-modelling, and 3D-animation services for media production companies, VR experience creators, video game developers, and the wider artists' community.
I'm reaching out today with an exciting opportunity for the students of the Crofton Downs Primary School. As part of our commitment to bringing more diversity and inclusiveness to the world of 3D visualization and animation, we are on the lookout for young local models, both female and male, of all ethnicities, aged 8 to 14 years old. These young talents will be photographed and transformed into their "3D-digital replicas" (3D avatars). These avatars will be anonymised and made untraceable, and they will be used by other 3D artists, virtual reality creators, and architects to "populate" and "interact" with virtual 3D spaces.
The 3D-photography process we use is completely safe, utilising a multi-camera photo booth with no scanning or radiation involved.
Why Should Your School Get Involved?
We offer $120 per shoot session, which lasts only 15-20 minutes, making it convenient for students.
We prioritise the children's safety and privacy. Our studio is a professional, secure space, and data protection is our utmost priority.
This is a fantastic opportunity for interested students to be part of a cutting-edge project. They will also have the chance to learn about the process of creating 3D avatars, a valuable skill in today's digital world.
Application Process:
For students or guardians interested in participating, we require two full-length photos of the talent wearing a summer outfit and two photos wearing winter clothes (4 photos in total). These photos, along with their contact details, can be sent to info@3dfy.me. The deadline for submissions is ideally by 12th September, although the earlier, the better.
For more information, interested students, guardians, or parents can contact us at 04 881398 or reach out to me directly at 021 357481.
We would greatly appreciate your assistance and advice on how to convey this opportunity to interested students/parents.
Could you consider distributing this email among your school's parent community or sharing it in your school newsletter?
Together, we can make this project a rewarding experience for our young talents and future creators :)
Thank you for your time and support. We look forward to the possibility of working with some of your students on this exciting venture.
Best regards,
Sabry Macher

Volunteer collectors are needed in Wellington City, Lower Hutt, Petone, Porirua and Kapiti.
If you can spare just 2 hours of your time to collect, please sign up to your preferred location at https://signup.com/go/WCHStreetAppeal

- This is a great holiday opportunity to teach children about the importance of giving back and helping others. Younger children (16 years and younger) are welcome with an adult.
- Maybe you know of an older student (Year13 & beyond) who’d like to chalk up a few volunteer hours for their CV/Duke of Edinburgh Community Service?
- Alternatively, your family might be aware of a community or corporate group in search of a meaningful volunteering opportunity.
